Round 4 dates and application steps updated
The Community Emergency Preparedness Grant page now shows Round 4 applications opening on August 19, 2026 and closing on October 7, 2026 at 4 p.m. ET. It also marks Round 4 as the active intake and updates the ineligible-applicant language to cover organizations funded through any previous grant round. The application instructions were expanded to require an Ontario.ca account, Transfer Payment Ontario registration, submission through “Submit for Funding,” the 2026-27 application guidelines, and all required documents. New registrants are also warned that access to Transfer Payment Ontario may take up to 5 business days, so organizations are advised to register early.

Who is eligible?
- Municipalities with a population under 100,000.
- Local services boards established under the Northern Services Boards Act.
- Indigenous communities and organizations, including Tribal Councils and Indigenous service organizations.
- Non-municipal fire departments or entities providing fire protection services in unincorporated Ontario.
Who is not eligible
- Organizations that previously received funding through previous rounds of the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant or the Emergency Readiness and Capacity Building (ERaCB) program.
- Organizations without an emergency preparedness mandate or responsibility, and organizations that serve a fixed membership or community, not the community at large.
- Individuals, Crown corporations, and federal, provincial and municipal agencies.
- Universities, colleges, school boards, schools and hospitals.
- Municipalities with a population over 100,000, and direct applications from municipal fire departments or other municipal services will not be accepted; however they may apply through an eligible municipality.
