Who is eligible?
- Non-Profit Organizations, Crown Corporations, Municipalities or Agencies, and Indigenous Organizations.
- Public Health and Educational Institutions.
- Businesses, with the understanding that it is intended to support equitable opportunities rather than create competitive advantages or generate profit.
Eligible geographic areas
- British Columbia
Selection criteria
- Alignment with in-demand and emerging sectors as identified in B.C.’s Look West Strategy.
- Pathways to good jobs or skills training that can ladder into further education and upskilling, or targeted skills training for workers displaced by the impact of tariffs.
- Independence from government income supports through livable wages.
- Public education institutions as training partners, or projects that are Indigenous led.
- Projects with a duration of 12 months or less, and equitable program investment across the province.
How to apply
- Review the JCP Applicant Guide and email the CEP team to discuss your project idea.
- Complete the online application questions and attach all required documents.
- When asked if you have completed the Self-Assessment Questionnaire, select Yes to proceed with the application.
Processing and Agreement
- CEP may request further information and materials from the applicant and/or conduct its own inquiries when assessing the application and making funding decisions.
- The CEP team will contact applicants once the application period has closed and all applications have been reviewed.
- CEP project holders must provide regular monthly reporting on financial, program, and participant activities.
Additional information
- Participants are considered employees of the Crown and are covered under the Province’s WorkSafeBC account.
- Weekly hours are structured in alignment with the limits permitted under the BC Employment Standards Act.
- Hours worked beyond the agreement’s total may be considered overtime and require a separate agreement with the participant.
- Active EI claimants working additional hours should discuss the impacts to their EI directly with Service Canada.
