The Commercial CoolSaver Program offers eligible Alectra Utilities commercial customers in York Region a **free A/C, heat pump, or RTU tune-up valued up to $800**, plus instant discounts on energy-efficient HVAC upgrades to reduce electricity use and operating costs. Eligible activities include system assessment and cleaning (airflow correction, filter service, digital refrigerant analysis, coil/blower cleaning) and discounted upgrades such as refrigerant charge adjustments, demand-controlled ventilation, advanced rooftop controls, ECM supply-fan motors, and high-efficiency belts.

Activities funded

Complete a free HVAC cooling-system tune-up for an existing rooftop unit (RTU), air conditioner, or heat pump at a commercial facility in York Region.
Implement energy-efficiency upgrades to existing HVAC systems through instant discounts (e.g., ventilation controls, rooftop unit controls, fan motor upgrades, belt upgrades, refrigerant charge adjustment).
Supply and installation of an ecobee enhanced smart thermostat (limited-time offer) following completion of a Commercial CoolSaver tune-up.

Eligibility

Be a commercial customer of Alectra Utilities located in York Region.
Own, operate, rent, or lease a facility in York Region where the HVAC measures will be installed or serviced.
Have at least one air conditioning system/eligible cooling unit that is more than one year old and in working condition.
Be located in an eligible York Region postal code area (first three characters: L3L, L3P, L3R, L3S, L3T, L4B, L4C, L4E, L4G, L4H, L4J, L4K, L4L, L4S, L6A, L6B, L6C, L6E, L6G, L7B).
Enter into a Participation Agreement and sign a Work Order by October 1, 2025, and implement the eligible upgrades by December 31, 2025.

Commercial businesses (Alectra Utilities commercial customers) located in eligible areas of York Region
Owners, operators, renters, or leaseholders of commercial facilities in eligible areas of York Region
Multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) — for air conditioning systems serving common areas (e.g., corridors) only

Who is not eligible

Businesses or facilities that are not commercial customers of Alectra Utilities (e.g., residential account holders).
Organizations with facilities located outside the eligible York Region postal code areas listed by the program.
Facilities with cooling units that are less than one year old or not in working condition.
For the limited-time smart thermostat offer: facilities that are not Enbridge Gas customers.
For the limited-time smart thermostat offer: facilities that only have RTUs that do not provide both heating and cooling to a regularly occupied indoor space, or that use air source heat pump RTUs.

Eligible expenses

HVAC tune-up service for rooftop units (RTU), air conditioning or heat pump systems (including airflow correction, air filter cleaning or replacement, digital refrigerant analysis, and cleaning of indoor blower, evaporator and condenser coils).
Refrigerant charge adjustment (refrigerant top-up) identified during the tune-up.
Demand controlled ventilation (DCV) system installation.
Advanced rooftop unit (RTU) controls installation.
Electronically commutated motor (ECM) supply fan motor replacement (in eligible VAV units).
Installation of new fan-powered VAV units equipped with ECM/brushless DC fan motors (where replacing within an existing building).
Replacement HVAC belts (notched belts or synchronous belts) when replacing a smooth belt.
Supply and installation of an ecobee enhanced smart thermostat (limited-time offer; when replacing an existing non-Wi-Fi thermostat).

York Region, Ontario (limited to facilities located in areas with postal codes starting with: L3L, L3P, L3R, L3S, L3T, L4B, L4C, L4E, L4G, L4H, L4J, L4K, L4L, L4S, L6A, L6B, L6C, L6E, L6G, L7B).

Additional information

The program is delivered in collaboration with Alectra Utilities.
