  • Facilities that are not designated as Comfort Centres or Reception Centres/Shelters

Eligible expenses

  • Electrical work to connect a generator

  • Construction of a small building to house a generator and related supplies

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Construction projects larger than 24 square metres for generator storage

  • Building accessibility and road access
  • Availability of kitchen facilities and potable water
  • Hazards near the facility and the organization’s ability to operate it

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare the application
    • Gather the required organizational and financial information.
    • Prepare the work or equipment budget and supporting quotations.
  • Step 2: Submit the request
    • Send the funding request in advance of starting work or incurring expenses, where possible.
  • Step 3: Municipality review
    • The Municipality reviews the request against the policy criteria.
  • Step 4: Agreement and decision
    • If approved, the facility signs the required Memorandum of Understanding.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by the Municipality using stated facility and organizational criteria.
  • The Municipality decides whether to approve, reject, or edit recommendations.
  • Selected facilities must sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Municipality.
