Clinical Trials Training Platforms

• CV Inscription for the CPD and four CPs at the registration stage.
• CVs for all participants except collaborators; Canadian university applicants use a CIHR abbreviated CV, while knowledge users, non-university applicants, organizations and foreign applicants use a CIHR abbreviated CV or the Candidate Profile CV.
• The proposal, detailed budget justification, participant table and organizational chart.
• Mandatory support letters, collaboration letters and the written statement from the EDI champion.
• The sex and gender analysis training certificate for the CPD, and, if applicable, an Indigenous self-identification or relationship statement, a partner conflict-of-interest document, and a COVID-19 impact page.

Who is eligible?

• Independent researchers affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution or affiliated organizations such as hospitals, research institutes or other non-profit organizations with a health research or knowledge translation mandate.
• Knowledge users affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution or affiliated organizations such as hospitals, research institutes or other non-profit organizations with a health research or knowledge translation mandate.
• Individuals affiliated with a Canadian Indigenous non-governmental organization whose mandate includes research and/or knowledge translation.
• Canadian Indigenous non-governmental organizations whose mandate includes research or knowledge translation.

Eligible expenses

• Costs for a dedicated platform manager to reduce the administrative burden on the platform leadership team.
• Adaptation measures needed to ensure accessibility of the clinical trials training platform and its activities.
• Costs to ensure respect for Indigenous culture and traditions, including culturally appropriate promotional materials, cash reimbursements for participation costs, and consultants hired for knowledge translation and communication activities for Elders, community members and Indigenous knowledge keepers.
• Stipends or salaries for trainees, medical residents and research fellows; salaries for CDCs, clinicians and health professionals as participants or mentored persons; teaching or clinical workload relief for CDCs, clinicians and health professionals; and support for non-academic mentors.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Costs incurred to carry out research or to support research activities, including research stipends or allocations, are not eligible.
• The salary of the platform manager is excluded from the remuneration list and is treated as an operational and administrative cost.

• Organization and governance.
• Functioning and operational plan.
• Budget and final funding decisions require a score of 3.5 or more; peer-review ranking and SBSV alignment also inform decisions.

• Complete the registration step in RechercheNet.
• Then submit the detailed application in RechercheNet, following the detailed application instructions and any special instructions.

• Relevance is assessed at the registration stage using only the proposal summary, and applications deemed not relevant are removed from the competition.
• Peer review is conducted according to CIHR principles and is followed by a strategic alignment assessment with SBSV priorities.
• If funded, the CPD must submit an annual report and a final report, and identify in the first report any team members not named in the application.
• The CPD and CPs may be invited to mutual-learning workshops with all funded PFECs.
• Funded names will be published on the CIHR website.
