Who is eligible?

• Schools with a Woolwich address
• School groups, clubs, and parent councils applying on behalf of a school
• Publicly or privately funded school boards

Who is not eligible

• Applicants seeking funding for the same project through another Township grant program
• Schools or organizations with an overdue Climate Smart Schools Micro Grant project that has not been completed or repaid

Eligible expenses

• Project-related costs for climate action initiatives.
• Speaker fees for climate action topics.
• Marketing and signage materials.
• Tree and microforest planting costs.
• Pollinator garden construction and maintenance.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Current program operating costs and staff salaries unrelated to the project
• Mass advertising, fundraising, donations, and reserve funds
• Alcohol, land acquisition, vehicle purchases, and rent or lease costs
• Activities outside Woolwich, political or religious activities, and unregistered HST

Eligible geographic areas

• Woolwich

• Applications are reviewed after a full and complete submission is received.
• Staff assess applications against the policy criteria and available funds.
• Approval decisions are made by the Senior Management Team or Council, depending on the amount requested.
• Successful applicants are notified in a timely manner and funds are paid after approval.

• Projects must be completed within the same calendar year the funding is issued, unless otherwise stated.
• Unspent funds must be returned to the Township after project completion.
• Recipients must acknowledge the Township’s contribution in promotional materials.
• Funding is subject to available budget and council priorities.
