How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare your application
    • Complete the application form.
    • Prepare a 1–2 page statement of intent.
    • Prepare a 10-page writing sample from the work to be developed.
  • Step 2: Follow submission guidelines
    • Remove identifying information from the statement and sample.
    • Format the documents in plain text, 12-point font.
    • Save and attach the documents as Word or PDF files.
  • Step 3: Submit your application
    • Send the application before January 21, 2026 at midnight.
    • Use the online application form provided by the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild.
  • Step 4: Confirm submission
    • Watch for a confirmation email within two business days after acceptance.
    • Contact the Program Director if you do not receive confirmation or have questions.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed anonymously by professional writers from outside Saskatchewan.
  • The jury’s decision is final.
  • The prize may be withheld if no submission is judged worthy.
  • Accepted applications receive a confirmation email within two business days.
  • The winner is announced in April 2026 and celebrated at the award ceremony on May 28, 2026.
