• Professional quote(s) and estimates from qualified professionals, if applicable.
• Professional drawing(s) of the proposed works, if applicable.
• Photographs of the current condition of the property, building interior and exterior, and works to be improved.
• Historical documentation or information available for the property, if applicable.
• Additional documentation relevant to the application, such as tax assessment or historical photos, if applicable.

Who is eligible?

• Registered owner, tenant or authorized agent.

Eligible expenses

• The incremental amount of the municipal portion of taxes paid by the applicant as a result of the development, redevelopment, rehabilitation and/or adaptive reuse of the site/project.
• Municipal fees, including Building & Demolition Permits, Planning Act Applications, Minor Variances and Consent to Sever (severances), Encroachment Agreements and Sign Permits.
• Required development charges.
• Costs to hire a professional engineer, architect and/or a qualified designer to develop plans and designs, and professional fees associated with the design of a sidewalk patio.
• Façade improvements, building improvements, public art, sidewalk patio construction costs, materials, installation, labour, lighting and landscaping for parking and landscaping projects, parking permit or monthly transit pass fees, and Landfill Tipping Fees.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Costs associated with the development of drawings by a professional third party are not eligible under the Façade Improvement Grant Program.
• Costs associated with the development of drawings by a professional third party are not eligible under the Parking and Landscaping Grant Program.
• Expenses incurred prior to receiving written recognition of the submission of the application from the City are ineligible and may result in disqualification.

• It is strongly recommended that applicants contact the Planning Services Department to hold a pre-consultation meeting before applying.
• Complete the application form in its entirety.
• Submit the application to growthcip@northbay.ca.
• Attach professional quote(s) or estimates and professional drawing(s), if applicable.
• Attach photographs of the existing property and any additional documentation, if applicable.

• City staff and the Chair of Community Services review the application and supporting materials and may approve, deny or defer the application.
• As a condition of approval, the applicant may be required to enter into a Grant Agreement with the City, which specifies the terms, duration and default provisions of the incentive.
• City staff, officials and/or agents may inspect any property that is the subject of an application.
• The applicant has one (1) year from approval to submit the required information to receive grant payment; an extension may be requested in writing.
