Ontario Renovates homeowner form updated
The Ontario Renovates Program Homeowner Form has replaced the closed 2025-2026 notice with an active 2026-2027 application form and shows a deadline of October 31, 2026. Who is eligible?
- Low-to-moderate income households that own a home and live in it as their sole and principal residence in the City of Brantford and County of Brant
- First-time home buyers who are at least 18 years old, currently renting in Brantford or Brant County, and looking to buy a sole and principal residence in Brantford/Brant
- Canadian Citizen, Landed Immigrant or have Refugee Claimant Status with no outstanding removal order
Who is not eligible
- Homeowners who previously received Ontario Renovates and/or homeownership funding until the 10 year forgivable period expires
- Homes situated on leasehold land and/or leasehold land improvements
Eligible expenses
- Ontario Renovates home repairs and accessibility improvements
- Repair work that includes energy-saving products where possible

Processing and Agreement
- If the application is complete and meets eligibility requirements, an inspection will be conducted on the property and a report will be provided with Conditional Approval.
- Quotes will be reviewed by Housing Services staff and a Final Approval Letter will be issued by the City of Brantford.
- A copy of the signed Loan Agreement will be sent to the homeowner.
- Homeowners must allow inspections prior to the start of work, during construction as required, and when the project is complete.
- Once work is approved and completed, payment for all labour and materials will only be made directly to the approved contractor(s).
Additional information
- Households are allowed one application under the Ontario Renovates Program.
- The project must be completed within 120 days of commencement.
- Work that started prior to written approval by Housing Services is not eligible.
- Homes situated on leasehold land and/or leasehold land improvements are not eligible for this program.
