Overview of the Cinespace Technician Roster program
The Cinespace Technician Roster, in partnership with the Indigenous Screen Office, provides Indigenous screen-based creators with up to $500 CAD to cover accessibility costs while participating in specialized film and television crew training. The program supports training and placements for production crew roles, with the aim of building skills and experience in categories such as Set Decoration, Props, Grip, Electric, and General Labour.
Financing terms and conditions
- The ISO provides up to $500.00 CAD in additional funding to cover accessibility costs incurred during the stages of applying, completing a project, and writing the final report.
Eligible projects & activities
- Training Indigenous individuals for crew roles in film and television production through participation in the CineCares Training Program.
- Providing hands-on experience on actual productions to advance careers in screen-based roles such as Set Decoration, Props, Grip, Electric, and General Labour.
Eligibility criteria of the Cinespace Technician Roster program
- The applicant must be an Indigenous individual or an Indigenous-controlled group as defined by the Indigenous Screen Office (ISO): status and non-status First Nations, Inuit, or Métis peoples of Canada.
- The applicant and key project decision-makers must be residents of Canada, having lived in Canada for at least 8 months in the past year.
- The applicant must be of legal age in the province of Ontario and legally able to work in Ontario.
- The applicant must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (proof required).
- The applicant should have some prior experience in film or television production, but must not be a current permittee or member of IATSE Local 873.

Who is not eligible
- Companies that are not controlled by Indigenous individuals meeting the defined criteria of the Indigenous Screen Office.
- Organizations outside of Ontario or those unable to legally employ workers in Ontario.
- Businesses seeking to place current permittees or members of IATSE Local 873.
- Companies unable to ensure full COVID-19 vaccination for participants.
Eligible expenses
- Accessibility costs incurred during the stages of applying, completing a project, and writing the final report (up to $500 CAD).

- If false or misleading information is provided, the ISO may terminate contracts and require repayment of funds.
