Who is eligible?

• Registered nonprofit organizations
• Registered charities under the Income Tax Act (Canada)
• Umbrella organizations sponsoring small community groups

Who is not eligible

• Organizations that are not registered charities
• Organizations seeking operating support
• Applicants requesting salaries, staff costs, or honorariums

Eligible expenses

• Capital costs, including equipment purchases and building renovations
• Other capital components of a project

• Operating costs
• Salaries and other staff costs
• Honorariums

Eligible geographic areas

• Chilliwack area

• Benefit to a significant number of people
• Benefit to people residing in the Chilliwack area
• Reputable organization with stable governance
• Project feasibility and practicality
• Projects aligned with the Foundation’s focus areas are favoured

• Step 1: Confirm charity status
  • Ensure the organization is registered as a charity under the Income Tax Act (Canada).
  • Include the CRA charitable registration number in the application.
• Step 2: Complete the application form
  • Use the Foundation’s official application form only.
  • Complete all sections and attach all required supporting documents.
  • Include full contact information and any required organization details.
• Step 3: Prepare copies
  • Make 10 copies of the completed application and supporting documents.
  • Collate each application with its supporting documents.
• Step 4: Submit the application
  • Mail or deliver the copies to the Chilliwack Foundation care of MNP LLP Accountants in Chilliwack, BC.
  • Submit by the application deadline.

• Applications are reviewed by the Chilliwack Foundation Distribution Committee.
• The committee selects grant recipients under the Foundation’s bylaws.
• Successful applicants must recognize the Foundation’s support.
• Recipients may need to provide receipts, completion confirmation, and photos after the project is finished.

• Two grant application opportunities are offered each year: Spring and Fall.
• Successful applicants are asked to provide recognition of the Foundation in public materials or at their premises.
• Recipients must provide receipts for items purchased with grant funds, confirmation of project completion, and photos where applicable.
