ChildCareBC Maintenance Fund — Required Relocation

• A detailed rationale for the request describing the emergency circumstance and the required relocation
• Documented evidence of the required relocation due to an emergency circumstance
• The facility’s number of licensed child care spaces by care type, as seen on the licence
• Two separate written quotes or estimates from two different companies for each requested expense
• A current copy of the facility’s valid Community Care and Assisted Living Act licence

Who is eligible?

• Not-for-profit licensed child care providers, including local governments, school boards, Health Authorities, public institutions, Indigenous Governments, not-for-profit societies, and Indigenous not-for-profit societies
• For-profit licensed child care providers, including limited companies, incorporated companies, sole proprietors, and partnerships

Who is not eligible

• Licence-Not-Required, Registered Licence-Not-Required, Childminding, Occasional Child Care, Recreational Care, and Residential Care licenses
• Licensed Personal Residence Providers are not eligible for relocation support

Eligible expenses

• Packing materials: moving boxes, packing tape, and packing peanuts
• Moving company services/vehicles: rental costs, fuel, and vehicle insurance
• Utility services: start-up or change costs for Hydro and phone lines, key cutting for the new facility, and move-in cleaning services
• Tenant improvements and municipality fees: partitions, fixtures, fencing, resilient ground covering, wheelchair ramps, modified bathroom equipment, and mandatory inspections for occupants
• Address forwarding: Canada Post change of address costs

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Any costs or expenses incurred prior to funding approval
• Small appliances, major appliances, change tables, indoor play structures, replacement of outdoor equipment, office furniture and equipment, and vehicles
• First Aid Kits, Earthquake Kits, expired Fire and Life Safety Equipment, security alarm systems, and free standing or window mounted air conditioners
• Staff wages or salaries, cleaning costs, signage, painting, and consumable or office supplies
• Deposits on leases and rentals

• Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Evaluation considers the rationale provided, evidence of the emergency circumstance, the reasonability of the request, and whether the cost is outside routine and regular service

• Review the eligible expenses and additional information before beginning the application form
• Gather the mandatory supporting information and documents
• Complete the ChildCareBC Maintenance Fund application form and submit it online
• Include all mandatory documents with the application

• Completed applications are reviewed in date order received, and incomplete applications are not placed in the processing queue
• Required relocation recipients must submit the Financial Reconciliation Report, invoices and proof of payment, and a copy of the new Community Care and Assisted Living Act facility licence issued for the relocated site
• Required relocation reconciliations must be submitted within 6 months of the completed relocation or immediately upon receipt of the facility licence
• Cash payments are not accepted without invoices and proof of payment
• The ministry may request follow-up information or repayment if the report does not reflect approved items; if eligible recipients do not enroll in CCFRI, repayment may be requested, and unspent funding is repaid as a debt owed to the Minister of Finance
