Child Care Fee Help (Subsidy)

• Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment or Canada Child Benefit Notice
• Proof of address
• Current work or school verification for parents
• Special or social needs form
• Custody court order, if you have one

Who is eligible?

• Families living in Durham Region.
• Parents or spouses, if applicable, who live in Durham Region.
• Applicants who need child care within the next three months.
• Applicants who are working, going to school, have a special or social need, or receive Ontario Works with a referral.

Eligible expenses

• Licensed child care fees
• Approved full-day recreation program fees

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Child care outside the approved hours or days of care.
• Additional child care not pre-approved by the caseworker.
• Care after moving out of Durham Region.
• Costs for unapproved child care providers or programs.

Eligible geographic areas

• Durham Region

• Eligibility is assessed based on residence, approved activity, financial criteria, and proof of secured care.

• Answer the eligibility questions and, if all are yes, complete the online application form.
• Upload the Notice of Assessment or Canada Child Benefit notice as instructed.
• Contact the office by phone if you need help completing the application.

• Applicants receive email communication from the Fee Subsidy team within one week of the application being received.
• Every year, the file is reviewed to keep the subsidy going.

• No waitlist for fee subsidy in Durham Region.
• Subsidy approval letters are sent by mail or email.
• Annual review is required to continue the subsidy.
• Changes in family, work, school, or address must be reported promptly.
