Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Property owners undertaking permanent cafes, patios, display areas, or court yards accessory to commercial use may apply for the Cafes, Patios, Display Areas and Court Yards Program.
- Property owners may apply for the Chatham-Kent Community Improvement Plan incentives.
- Property owners authorizing an agent may have the agent act on their behalf in making the application.

How to apply
- Complete the application form.
- Attach all applicable supporting documents to the application form.
- Submit the application for a grant under the Chatham-Kent Community Improvement Plan.
Processing and Agreement
- The Municipality may verify the application information by inquiry and property inspection.
- Applications may be rejected, not approved, delayed, reduced, or cancelled if the application contains untrue, misleading, or materially omitted information.
- The grant may be delayed, reduced, or cancelled if the project is not completed, not completed as approved, or if the person undertaking the eligible works is not paid.
- Approved participants receive their grant subject to meeting the program requirements and provisions.
- All grants are calculated and awarded in the sole discretion of the Municipality.
Additional information
- Applicants must attach a complete and signed application form, drawings, two financial quotes, confirmation of ownership, and any other documents required by the Municipality at pre-consultation.
- Property taxes and other municipal financial obligations must be current and up to date for payment of the grant.
- Grant payment is made to the registered property owner or their assignee after successful completion of the approved work.
