- Registered dietitians.

- Applicants without the required registered dietitian or Dietitians of Canada membership status for the principal investigator arrangement.
- Dietetic interns, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows as funded personnel.
- Projects led by principal investigators who are full-time employees of universities, dietetic departments, or public health departments when seeking salary support.
Eligible expenses
- Salary support for project personnel such as technicians, technologists, research assistants, statistical consultants, and similar staff.
- Minor equipment needed for the project.
- Supplies and services such as materials, printing, postage, computer services, analytical services, and equipment maintenance.
- Fieldwork travel and participant transportation related to data collection.
- Conference travel and dissemination, up to $1,000.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Salary for principal investigators.
- Salary for full-time university, dietetic, or public health employees on the project.
- Dietetic interns, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
- Secretarial assistance.
- Office furniture, computers, photographic equipment, and equipment service contracts.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by the Scientific Review Committee.
- Written review feedback is provided after the competition.
- Final decisions are made by CFDR and are final.
- Successful applicants are announced publicly.
- A signed application forms the agreement with CFDR and the sponsoring institution.
