Who is eligible?

• Commercial property owners in Central Huron
• Tenants with property owner approval

Who is not eligible

• Properties not assessed for commercial use
• Applicants without property owner approval when applying as a tenant

Eligible expenses

• Façade restoration and exterior repairs
• Window, door, signage, lighting, and awning improvements
• Exterior painting or cleaning
• Professional fees
• Entranceway and walkway improvements linked to the façade

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• General maintenance work
• Projects with outstanding municipal work orders or tax arrears
• Work that compromises heritage designation requirements

• Municipality of Central Huron

• Funding availability
• Proportion of the request within the annual budget
• Priority may be given to first-time and less frequent applicants

• Step 1: Review program requirements
  • Check that the property and proposed improvements meet the program rules.
  • Request a pre-consultation meeting with the Clerk’s Department if needed.
• Step 2: Prepare the application
  • Gather property information, project details, quotes, and the project budget breakdown.
  • Include the required declaration about work orders or tax arrears.
• Step 3: Submit the application
  • Apply online through the municipal portal.
  • Paper copies or alternative submission methods may be requested from the Clerk’s Department.
  • Submit before the advertised deadline.
• Step 4: Wait for a decision
  • Applications are considered by Council no later than the first regular meeting of May.
  • You will be notified in writing of the decision.
• Step 5: Complete the work and submit invoices
  • If approved, complete the project within the approved time frame.
  • Submit paid invoices to receive the grant payment.

• Applications are reviewed by the Clerk’s Department and checked for outstanding work orders or tax arrears.
• Council considers eligible applications and approves funding by resolution.
• Applicants are notified in writing within one week of Council’s decision.
• Successful applicants receive the approved amount by cheque after submitting paid invoices.
• Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for up to six months.

• Only one application per property per year is allowed.
• Successful applicants must submit paid invoices to receive payment.
• Projects may require an extension request if not completed on time.
