- Students affiliated with Evangelical Covenant Churches in Canada
- CBC Alumni descendants in Canada or in qualifying Canadian programs

- Applicants without the required nomination
- Applicants whose programs do not meet the fund’s criteria
- Immediate relatives of Awards Committee members
