Who is eligible?
- Nominated Principal Applicants who are independent researchers.
Selection criteria
- Alignment of the proposed project with the objectives of this funding opportunity.
- Extent to which the proposal addresses the relevant research areas described in the Objectives section.
- Extent to which gender and/or sex concepts are clearly articulated and integrated into the research designs.
- Reviewers use five standard evaluation criteria: Research Approach, Originality of the Proposal, Applicant(s), Environment for the Research, and Impact of the Research.
- Applications that receive a rating below 3.5 will not be funded.
How to apply
- The application process has two steps: Registration and Application.
- Complete Registration following the ResearchNet Registration Phase Instructions.
- Complete the Application following the ResearchNet Application Phase Instructions and any additional instructions under Specific Instructions.
- Submit the application using ResearchNet.
- Scan and upload the signed signature pages, including the routing slip, in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task before submitting.
Processing and Agreement
- A CIHR review committee evaluates the full applications.
- After peer review, the funding organizations receive the ranking list, ratings, and recommendations on funding level and award term for fundable applications.
- Successful applicants and any other persons working on the project must comply fully with CIHR Funding Policies.
- Within six months after the grant’s term, the Nominated Principal Applicant must submit a final performance report using the template provided by the Institute of Gender and Health.
- The Nominated Principal Applicant must contribute to monitoring, review, and evaluation activities and encourage associates, trainees, and administration to participate.
