CanCode applicant guide published
The CanCode program 2026-2028 Applicant Guide now shows that applications closed on August 6, 2026 at 12:00 noon PST and that funded projects may begin as early as Fall 2026 and finish by March 31, 2028. It also adds the application package requirements, including the CanCode Application form, the Quantitative data workbook, proof of incorporation as a not-for-profit organization in Canada, and audited financial statements for the last two years. The guide newly confirms up to $30 million over fiscal years 2026-2027 and 2027-2028, with applications able to request up to $5 million per fiscal year per stream. It also adds new program guidance on eligible and ineligible activities, quarterly reporting, payment conditions, and Québec authorization considerations.

Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Not-for-profit corporations incorporated under federal, provincial or territorial law in Canada.
- One not-for-profit organization must act as the lead applicant and submit the application on behalf of all partners.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Costs that are not related to the CanCode program.
- Employment benefits other than the Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs).
- Costs incurred before the date of eligibility or after the project completion date.
- Accounting or administrative expenses related to existing organizational activities.
- Costs associated with construction of or major renovation of buildings or structures, the purchase or lease of land, amortization costs, hospitality expense where the primary beneficiary is the organization or an ineligible participant group, and all costs associated with travel outside Canada.
