Canadian Heritage funding rules updated
The Application guidelines for the International Single Sport Event component now show a special continuous intake for events taking place in 2026–2027, while the standard deadline remains at least 6 months before the event for requests up to $250,000 and at least 24 months before the event for requests over $250,000. The guidelines also now require a Four-Year Hosting Strategic Plan, with the first submission due on or before January 15, 2027, and they add a new multi-year support section for recurring events. Eligible projects and expenses were broadened: non-Olympic and non-Paralympic disciplines are now eligible for consideration, capital expenditures are now listed as eligible, administration costs remain capped at 15% of the funding request, and the guidance now includes additional eligible reconciliation and Indigenous inclusion expenses. Contact and submission instructions were also rewritten, including updated support guidance and email submission language.
