Overview
Provides up to Information not available to support growth and diversification in Northern Ontario’s tourism sector. Funding supports tourism product planning and development, market-readiness training, and the creation or improvement of tourism facilities.
Activities funded
- Planning and development of tourism products and services (e.g., tours, special events, festivals).
- Market-readiness training with tourism associations (e.g., marketing, foreign payment systems, cultural differences).
- Creating or improving tourism facilities (e.g., trails, campgrounds, shelters).
- Developing onsite experiences, excursions, and attractions to expand winter and shoulder-season tourism.
- Supporting rural/remote, Indigenous, inclusive (including LGBTQ2), and culinary/farm-to-table tourism initiatives.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a not-for-profit organization, municipality/municipal organization, or First Nation in Northern Ontario.
- Project benefits must accrue to Northern Ontario.
- Project must support growth and diversification of the tourism sector.
