Who is eligible?
- Students who self-identify as Black and/or Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)
- Students who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit or Métis)
- Students enrolled in or have applied to a graduate program at a Canadian institution
- Students in joint programs with a professional degree or clinically oriented programs of study, if they have a significant research component

- Scientific Merit (40%).

Processing and Agreement
- If awarded, applicants must participate in annual meetings to share knowledge and network with CCS staff and partners
- If awarded, applicants must join the CCS IGNITE Program and participate in monthly meetings, workshops and opportunities such as knowledge translation or engagement with people with lived/living experience
- If awarded, applicants must submit annual progress reports and statements of account throughout the grant
- If awarded, applicants must submit a final report 2 years post-grant

- The program was co-developed and revised with guidance from CCS advisors, including Black and Indigenous community members, and is continuously reviewed to monitor and improve its impact
- The special mandate responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action and CCS’s commitment to Advancing Health Equity Through Cancer Information and Support Services
- The term community and communities includes all treaty people, both Indigenous and settler populations
