Who is eligible?
- Canadian universities.
- Canadian research institutes.
- Independent researchers with full-time academic or research appointments.
Who is not eligible
- Applicants proposing studies on commercial pharmaceutical products that are eligible for industry sponsorship, except in special circumstances.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Personal salary support for the Principal Investigator or co-applicants.
- Institutional and administrative overhead costs.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are screened for eligibility and completeness before review.
- Relevant applications are evaluated through peer review with expert reviewers and knowledge users.
- Applications not considered sufficiently relevant are removed from the competition.
- Successful applicants must acknowledge Asthma Canada and CAAIF in resulting publications or presentations.
- A final report must be submitted after the award period ends.

- Only one of the two asthma research grant categories may be selected per investigator.
- Preference is given to applicants who have not received a similar CAAIF award in the past two years.
- Some investigator-initiated studies involving commercial pharmaceutical products are only considered in special circumstances.
