Canada Media Fund (CMF) - Changing Narratives Fund (CNF)

• A total budget of 10 million dollars is planned over 3 years starting from 2024-2025 to support all initiatives of the Voice Diversity Fund.

• The applicant or its project must support diverse communities, including Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethno-religious minorities, people with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
• The project must focus on mentorship, training, or professional development opportunities in the cultural or media sectors (television, digital media, screen industry, journalism, magazines, newspapers).
• The applicant organization must operate in sectors eligible under the three streams: audiovisual, journalism, or periodical publishing.
• The project must aim to foster inclusion, diversity, equity, or accessibility within Canada's media, culture, or audiovisual industry.

Who is eligible?

• Companies and organizations in the television, digital media, screen industry, and cinematic production sectors
• Organizations in the written press, community radio, community television, and online news service industries
• Organizations in the magazine and (non-daily) community newspaper industries

Eligible expenses

• Costs related to mentorship programs for diverse communities in the audiovisual, media, magazine, and newspaper industries.
• Expenses for training and professional development activities aimed at increasing skills and participation of diverse creators.
• Funding for work placements to support industry experience and career advancement for members of underrepresented groups.

• Companies operating in Canada.

• Contribution to increasing the participation of diverse communities in the cultural and media sectors.
• Providing opportunities for mentoring, training, and professional development at every stage of the career.
• Enhancing the authentic representation of stories and viewpoints of diverse communities in the media and culture.

• The application period for the Changing Narratives Fund runs from July 15, 2025, to July 31, 2025, and covers both the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 award years.
• Support for accessibility or accommodations during the application process is available for applicants who require it.
• The fund is part of a $10 million commitment over three years, starting in 2024-2025, as allocated by Budget 2024.
