Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Companies from Canada and India that wish to perform joint R&D leading to technology commercialization.
- Canadian incorporated, profit-oriented small or medium-sized enterprises with 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees.
- Indian commercial for-profit companies under the Indian Companies Act 1956/2013 that operate in and are headquartered in India.
- Indian companies with at least 51% of the stake owned by Indian citizens.
Who is not eligible
- Sole proprietors.
- Partnership firms.
- Companies headquartered and owned outside India and their subsidiaries in India, or vice versa.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Research and development of products, processes or technologies with military or non-peaceful applications.
How to apply
- Each interested partner must contact their national funding body before starting a project application, and all project participants must submit proposals to their respective national funding body.
- Canadian applicants must register online to receive an Expression of Interest form.
- Canadian applicants must complete and submit the Expression of Interest form by the mandatory Canadian submission deadline.
- Eligible Canadian organizations will be invited to submit an International Consortium Project Proposal.
- Canadian ICPP submissions must be received in full by the mandatory Complete Application Package submission deadline.
- Indian applicants must visit the GITA website under the Canada-India Collaborative Industrial R&D Program 2019 to access and download the required application instructions and forms.
Processing and Agreement
- Registrations will be screened for basic NRC IRAP eligibility.
- Expressions of Interest will be reviewed to determine whether the organization, project and consortium meet Canadian eligibility guidelines.
- Only eligible applicants will be invited to submit an International Consortium Project Proposal.
- Each national funding body will independently evaluate each complete ICPP, and a proposal is selected only if all implicated national funding bodies jointly approve and fund the project.
- Conditionally selected applicants will complete Contribution Agreements with their respective national funding bodies, and release of funds, project monitoring and reporting will follow those agreements; if any partner fails due diligence, the project will be halted.
