Who is eligible?
- Current employees of Memorial University.
- Applicants who identify as members of one or more of the following groups: women and gender-equity-seeking groups, racialized individuals, Indigenous Peoples, and persons with disabilities.
How to apply
- Submit the Institutional Mid-Point Attestation – Recruitment and Nomination Process to information@chairs-chaires.gc.ca prior to moving on to Stage 6.
- If needed, attach the Impact Assessment Form (Appendix A) through the Impact Assessment page of the grant application in the On-line System.
Processing and Agreement
- The Institutional Mid-Point Attestation – Recruitment and Nomination Process must be submitted to information@chairs-chaires.gc.ca prior to moving on to Stage 6.
- The Impact Assessment Form (Appendix A) is used to determine whether the project requires an impact assessment under the Impact Assessment Act 2019.
- TIPS staff use the Confirmation of partner commitments form for administrative review to validate partner financial contributions listed in a CERC application.
- Award recipients must report on progress annually and publicly acknowledge their award funding.
- Institutions are required to provide reports on the deployment and management of Canada Research Chairholders as stipulated by the program.

- The Canada Excellence Research Chairs Program is a tri-agency initiative of SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR, administered by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat within SSHRC.
- At Memorial University, the CERC program is overseen by the Office of the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) and the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
- Research Initiatives and Services manages the CERC program pre- and post-award, and the award is administered in the academic unit in which the Chair resides.
