Eligibility
Who is eligible?
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons.
- Apprentices registered in a Red Seal trade apprenticeship program designated by their province or territory.
- Apprentices enrolled in block release technical training or equivalent full-time technical training with an approved technical training provider.
Who is not eligible
- High school students.
- Apprentices registered in the province of Quebec.
- Applicants receiving a Canada Student Loan for the same technical training.
- Applicants who have been told that they are restricted from receiving a Canada Apprentice Loan or a Canada Student Loan.
- Applicants who have already received funding for 5 periods of technical training or 312 weeks/6 years of payment-free status.

How to apply
- Register for My Service Canada Account using a Sign-in Partner, GCKey, or your Provincial Sign-in (Alberta and British Columbia only).
- Sign in to My Service Canada Account and go to the Canada Apprentice Loan section of your dashboard.
Processing and Agreement
- The completed Personal Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement must be signed, dated, and mailed to the Canada Apprentice Loan Service Centre or uploaded electronically through your CALSC online service account.
- A signed copy of the agreement is required even if you are not making changes to the bank account.
- Attach a copy of a void cheque for the bank account specified in Section 2.
- Subsequent payments will be withdrawn until the loan has been paid in full.
- You may revoke authorization with written or verbal notice at least 10 calendar days before your next scheduled PAD payment, and bank account changes must be made in writing using a new agreement.

- The Canada Apprentice Loan online service is integrated with My Service Canada Account (MSCA).
- If you have Canada Student Loans as well as Canada Apprentice Loans, one single application is used to assess all of your loans for forgiveness under the Severe Permanent Disability Benefit.
