Who is eligible?
- Professional artists from all disciplines supported by the CALQ
- Independent curators recognized in visual arts, arts and crafts, architectural research, digital arts, and film and video art
Who is not eligible
- Applicants who have resided outside Québec for two or more years, unless they have maintained Québec resident status
- Applicants who are shareholders or partners of a corporation or partnership, or employees of a non-profit organization, may only apply for personal projects that are not part of the company or organization’s activities
- Independent curators employed full time as curators in an arts organization
Eligible expenses
- Travel expenses, including vaccinations and visas
- Living expenses, including accommodation and per diem, up to $200 per day
- Shipping equipment or works, including insurance and customs
- Equipment rentals
- Promotion and publicity expenses not paid by the host organization, agency expenses, and administration expenses up to 10% of the total cost of the project
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Projects produced by or with a corporation or partnership of which the applying artist is a shareholder or partner, or with a non-profit organization of which the applying artist is an employee
- Self-presentation projects
- In arts and crafts, participation in fairs
- Projects that do not deal mainly with living artists, and in literature and storytelling, activities other than literary or storytelling shows
- Expenses for producing or adapting a show for a tour, expenses to present works, resale rights, capital expenditures, salaries and fees, registration or booth fees for marketplaces, exhibitions and fairs, and travel and living expenses already covered by other funding
Selection criteria
- Projects are prioritized based on presentation guarantees and the impact on career development
- Artistic evaluation of the project represents 100% of the score
- Quality of artistic work accounts for 40%
- Interest and relevance of the project accounts for 60%, including benefits for the applicant and participating artists, the scope of dissemination, partner suitability, and the host organization's commitment
- Administrative evaluation covers artist remuneration and project management, uses the ratings Excellent, Very good, Satisfactory, With reservations, and Weak, and requires at least Satisfactory for each criterion to receive financial aid
How to apply
- Access Mon Dossier CALQ and fill out the online form
- If Mon Dossier CALQ is not available for the program or you cannot use it, the CALQ will receive the application file by WeTransfer
Processing and Agreement
- The CALQ sends an email acknowledgment of receipt after submission
- If you register for Mon Dossier CALQ, you can track the processing of your application online
- The CALQ informs applicants of the decision about eight weeks after submission, and decisions are final and not subject to appeal
- As needed, CALQ assessors issue opinions and submit recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval
- If your application is accepted, the confirmation letter includes a document outlining the terms and conditions for using the grant, and recipients must produce a Grant Use Report within three months after project completion
