Who is eligible?

Who is not eligible

  • Applicants acting through a corporation or partnership in which they are a shareholder or partner
  • Applicants employed by a non-profit organization, for projects linked to that organization’s activities
  • Projects without a partner letter of interest or commitment

Eligible expenses

  • Artist and collaborator fees, including the applicant’s remuneration
  • Research, rehearsal, production, and presentation costs
  • Studio, workshop, equipment, and materials costs
  • Travel, accommodation, and per diem expenses
  • Promotion, administration, visas, and copyright-related fees

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Costs already covered by other public or private funding
  • Projects without a partner letter of interest or commitment
  • Fair participation and promotional projects
  • Public art projects under the government art integration decree
  • Production stages of film and video projects

Eligible geographic areas

  • Quebec
  • Projects may also include dissemination outside Quebec

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are first reviewed for eligibility and program objectives
  • Eligible applications are assessed by a peer jury
  • The board of directors ratifies the jury’s recommendations
  • Applicants receive a decision by email or in writing, around four months after submission
  • If approved, the applicant receives grant terms and conditions with the award letter

Additional information

  • Applicants can submit up to five applications and receive up to five grants per CALQ fiscal year.
  • No more than three projects may be under review, supported, or underway at the same time.
  • A grant use report must be submitted within three months after project completion.
  • CALQ decisions are final and without appeal.
