Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Professional artists.
  • Independent curators.
  • Artists in disciplines supported by the CALQ.
  • Artists in visual arts, arts and crafts, architectural research, digital arts, film and video art, literature, storytelling, dance, music, theatre, circus arts, multidisciplinary arts, and related disciplines.

Who is not eligible

  • Artists who are shareholders or partners in a company or employed by a non-profit organization for projects linked to that entity.
  • Projects presented only in schools.
  • Projects that are self-presentations.
  • Projects already supported by another CALQ program.
  • Projects mainly journalistic, scientific, industrial, educational, tourism-based, or business-startup related.

Eligible expenses

  • Accommodation and per diem.
  • Travel and transport of participants, equipment, or works, including insurance.
  • Equipment rental.
  • Promotion and publicity not paid by the host organization.
  • Agency and administration costs, up to 10% of total project cost.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Production or adaptation costs for a tour.
  • Costs to present the works themselves.
  • Copyright and resale rights.
  • Salaries and fees.
  • Capital expenditures and costs already covered by other funding.

Processing and Agreement

  • The CALQ will email you an acknowledgement of receipt.
  • Registering for Mon dossier CALQ enables you to track the processing of your application in your online file.
  • The CALQ will inform you of the decision regarding your application around eight weeks after the date it is submitted.
  • If your application is accepted, with the confirmation letter you will receive a document that outlines terms and conditions for the use of the grant.
  • If you have received financial support from one of the CALQ’s grant programs, you must produce a Grant Use Report, and this report must be submitted and approved by the CALQ within three months after the completion of a project.

Additional information

  • Letters of recommendation are not submitted to the evaluation committee.
  • Recipients can register for direct deposit as the payment method for financial support.
