Eligible expenses

  • Research staff salaries and fellowships.
  • Laboratory materials, consumables, animal facility and platform fees.
  • Project-related travel and knowledge dissemination costs.
  • Intellectual property costs in Quebec.
  • Small equipment rental or purchase up to $25,000 per item, plus some subcontracting.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Expenses incurred by partner companies.
  • Equipment rental or purchase over $25,000 per item.
  • Salaries of the principal investigator, co-investigators, and other independent academic or research staff.
  • Indirect and overhead costs.
  • Intellectual property costs incurred outside Quebec or by a partner company.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed through an independent scientific evaluation.
  • Non-scientific aspects are assessed, including company commitment and collaboration value.
  • CQDM’s scientific advisory board makes funding recommendations.
  • Final approval is required from CQDM, Brain Canada, and MEIE.
  • Successful applicants are notified in October 2026 and must sign a research agreement after approval.

  • The funding start date is March 1, 2027.
