Overview
Provides up to $3,000 per base/wing to support women’s participation in CAF Sports. Funding supports women-specific sport programming such as facility rentals, clinics/“try it” events, and limited equipment purchases (up to $500, subject to approval).
Activities funded
- Establishing a sustainable, long-term women in sport program or initiative
- Launching or expanding women-specific sport leagues or intramural tournaments (in-house/on base)
- Delivering introductory sport clinics and “try it” events to encourage new participants
- Running women-focused training and development programs (e.g., multi-sport, triathlon/running, golf lessons, hockey/powerskating, learn to lift, swimming)
- Offering women’s leadership development in sport (e.g., coaching and officiating clinics)

Eligibility
- Applicant must be a CAF base, wing, or OUTCAN location.
- Applications must be routed through the local Manager of Fitness, Sports & Recreation or the designated Sports Coordinator.
- The initiative must be completed in the 2025–2026 period (prior to 31 March 2026).

- Costs to run introductory clinics and “try it” events (including bringing in community sport coaches/experts)

- Local community league fees (local support for local community league fees)

- Awards/prizes and hospitality
- Internal staffing and one-time events/symposium

How to apply
- Step 1: Prepare internal routing
- Route the application through the local Manager of Fitness, Sports & Recreation or the designated Sports Coordinator.
- Step 2: Complete application form
- Fill out the CAF Women in Sports Program application form.
- Step 3: Submit for review
- Submit the application via the application form to the CAFSO for review before 27 Feb 2026.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after submission.
- A response/feedback is provided to the applicant in approximately 14 days.
- Requests submitted by military personnel are forwarded to the appropriate Sports Coordinator prior to approvals.
Additional information
- All bases/wings must complete at least one initiative in 2025–2026.
- After completing the activity, surveys are required (one for the OPI and one for participants).
- Participants are encouraged to take photos and share on social media, tagging the CAF Sports Facebook page.
