The Buy BC Partnership Program offers up to $75,000 in cost-shared funding per year to B.C.-based producers, processors, cooperatives, and industry associations to support local marketing that boosts awareness and sales of B.C. agriculture, food, beverage, and eligible cannabis products. Eligible activities include paid advertising, Buy BC logo labelling and packaging, marketing materials, B.C.-focused trade shows and sales expositions, in-store demonstrations and promotions, and project-related staff wages.

- Design and rollout of Buy BC–branded advertising campaigns (digital, print, radio, transit and TV) to promote licensed B.C. agriculture, food, beverage and eligible cannabis products within the province.
- Projects to add the Buy BC logo to product labels and packaging, including creating and printing new Buy BC–compliant designs for eligible products.
- Creation and deployment of Buy BC–branded marketing collateral and promotional materials (e.g., videos, brochures, banners, recipe cards, point‑of‑sale materials) highlighting B.C. food, beverage and eligible cannabis products.
- Participation in B.C.-focused trade shows and sales expositions for the first time, to promote specific B.C. agriculture, food, beverage and eligible cannabis products to consumers and/or commercial buyers.
- Organization and execution of Buy BC–branded in‑store demonstrations and promotions in B.C. retail and food service locations, supported by staff time directly tied to these marketing activities.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a B.C.-based primary agriculture or seafood producer or cooperative, an agriculture/food/beverage or seafood processor, or an agriculture, food and/or beverage industry association, board or council.
- The organization must have its head office in British Columbia or be duly authorized to do business in B.C. (registered, licensed or certified as appropriate).
- The applicant must hold an approved and valid Buy BC logo licence by the specified program deadline.
- Producers, processors and cooperatives must have at least $30,000 in annual revenue for each of the past two years.
- The project must consist of one or more eligible local marketing activities (e.g. paid advertising, Buy BC labelling/packaging, marketing materials, B.C.-focused trade shows, in‑store promotions, or project-related staff wages) that aim to increase awareness and sales of B.C. agriculture, food and beverage products.
Who is eligible?
- Primary agriculture producers in British Columbia (including growers, harvesters, ranchers, and those producing fresh food or agricultural products 100% grown or raised in B.C.)
- Seafood producers in British Columbia (including harvesters and those producing seafood products 100% caught or raised in B.C.)
- Agriculture, food, beverage, and seafood processors and cooperatives that transform raw materials into new products with at least 51% of final production costs originating in B.C.
- Agriculture, food, and/or beverage industry associations, boards, and councils that represent and support B.C.-based producers, processors, and cooperatives
- Cannabis producers, processors, and industry associations that meet the program’s specific cannabis-related requirements
Who is not eligible
- Farmers’ markets, agricultural fairs and exhibitions.
- Food hubs and other processing facilities that do not fall under the defined producer/processor/cooperative categories.
- Retailers, wholesalers and distributors (they may obtain a Buy BC logo licence but are not eligible for cost-shared funding).
- Non-profit organizations whose role is to promote local food and beverages but that do not qualify as industry associations, boards or councils representing B.C. producers or processors.
Eligible expenses
- Development and production of Buy BC–branded advertisements (digital, radio, print, transit, TV), including design, creative services and purchase of ad space on eligible platforms (including boosted/sponsored social media posts and certain social media campaigns with influencers or brand ambassadors).
- Design and printing costs for the first run of product labels and packaging that incorporate the Buy BC logo for logo-licensed products.
- Creation and production of Buy BC–branded marketing collateral and promotional materials such as videos, brochures, rack cards, posters, banners, recipe cards, point-of-sale signs, shelf-talkers, truck wraps, social media visuals and similar tools (including limited staff-branded apparel).
- Costs to exhibit for the first time at B.C.-focused trade shows and sales expositions, including registration fees, booth rentals and upgrades, booth graphics/backdrops, equipment rentals, translation services, chef services, on-site storage, shipping of product samples and general booth service fees (e.g. garbage collection, electricity).
- Expenses for B.C.-focused in-store demonstrations and promotions, including hiring brand ambassadors, product sampling in grocery retailers or food service establishments, and production and use of in-store signage and promotional materials featuring the Buy BC logo.
- Staff wages directly related to the implementation and execution of approved project activities (e.g. coordinating campaigns, managing trade show presence, running in-store demos, preparing funded marketing materials).
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Market research, marketing or business plan development, and product or new brand development
- Capital or equipment purchases (for example land, buildings, major equipment, booth hardware, computers, software subscriptions, tools)
- Normal operating expenses and ongoing business costs (including annual events, tours, office supplies, stakeholder engagement or membership drives)
- Travel and accommodation, product costs for sampling or sale (including discounts, coupons), listing fees, sponsorships, membership fees, and lobbying activities
- Website or e‑commerce development and hosting (except adding the Buy BC logo), repeat activities already funded in past years, and any expenses or leases outside the approved project period
Eligible geographic areas
- Businesses with their head office in British Columbia (B.C.), Canada, or that are otherwise authorized to do business in B.C.
- Projects promoting local agriculture, food and beverage products within the province of British Columbia.
Selection criteria
- Alignment of the project objectives and activities with the Program’s immediate outcomes (e.g. increasing Buy BC brand awareness, consumer awareness and sales of local products).
- Quality and clarity of the project work plan, including well-defined activities, realistic timelines, identified service providers and deliverables, and a reasonable, well-supported budget (with quotes for items over $5,000).
- Expected impact of the project, demonstrated through clear and realistic performance measures and targets (e.g. reach, sales impact) and alignment with stated Program priorities.
- Past project reporting and performance under the Buy BC Partnership Program, including on-time reporting, staying within budget, responsiveness and achievement of prior targets (new applicants automatically receive full points on this criterion).
- Relative merit compared with other applications in a competitive, merit-based assessment process, especially when total funding requested exceeds available funds.
How to apply
Step 1: Review program guide and timelines- Download and read the current Buy BC Partnership Program Guide from the program website.- Note the intake window (January 26, 2026 to February 20, 2026 at 16:00 PST), anticipated project start date (April 1, 2026), and project completion deadline (November 13, 2026).- Optional: Attend or watch the recording of the online program information session held on January 29, 2026.Step 2: Obtain or confirm Buy BC logo licence- Apply for a Buy BC logo licence for your eligible products via the Ministry of Agriculture and Food website (BuyBC.gov.bc.ca/join-buy-bc/).- Ensure your application for logo licensing is submitted no later than February 13, 2026 to allow time for review and approval.- Confirm that your products are correctly licensed and that you hold a valid Buy BC logo licence before submitting a funding application.Step 3: Complete eligibility self-assessment- Use the eligibility self-assessment tool provided through the Buy BC Partnership Program or MNP Application Portal to confirm that your organization and proposed project meet the program requirements.- Contact Program Administration (admin@BuyBCPartnershipProgram.ca) if you have questions about the eligibility of specific activities or expenses.Step 4: Register or sign in to the MNP Application Portal- Access the MNP Application Portal via the Buy BC Partnership Program website (www.BuyBCPartnershipProgram.ca).- If you are a new user, create an organizational account in the portal.- If you have previously applied to the Buy BC Partnership Program or the BC Agriculture and Food Export Program using the MNP Portal (launched May 2023), sign in using your existing account credentials.Step 5: Select the appropriate funding stream- Within the portal, choose the funding stream that matches your organization type: Stream 1 – Producers, Processors and Cooperatives, or Stream 2 – Industry Associations, Boards and Councils.- Confirm that you will submit only one application for the intake.Step 6: Gather project information and supporting quotes- Define your proposed project activities using only eligible activity types (e.g., paid advertising, Buy BC logo labelling/packaging, marketing collateral, B.C.-focused trade shows and sales expositions, B.C.-focused in-store demonstrations and promotions, staff wages).- For each activity, outline objectives, timelines, and expected outputs and impacts in line with the program outcomes.- Obtain written quotes for any individual budget item with a cost of $5,000 or more; keep these documents ready to upload or reference in your application.Step 7: Complete the project budget template- Download the Project Budget template (see Appendix 2 of the Program Guide for a sample structure) from the portal or program website.- Itemize each expense by activity type and output (for example, separate lines for booth rental, booth graphics, shipping samples, digital ads, videos, staff wages).- Indicate unit quantities, unit costs, total cost, cost-share percentage, and the Buy BC funding request for each line.- Ensure your budget respects all applicable funding caps (for example, labelling/packaging with logo, marketing collateral, social media campaigns, staff wages).- Save the completed budget file to upload with your application.Step 8: Fill out the online application form- In the MNP Application Portal, open a new application for the current intake.- Enter organizational information and contact details as requested.- Describe your project work plan, including specific activities, timelines, locations, and service providers (if known).- Explain how your project aligns with the program objectives and expected outcomes, and how you will measure results.- Upload the completed Project Budget file and any required supporting quotes for items of $5,000 or more.Step 9: Review and submit the application online- Carefully review all sections of the application form and the attached budget for completeness, internal consistency, and eligibility of activities and costs.- Confirm that you hold a valid Buy BC logo licence and that the application is finalized before the deadline.- Submit the complete application through the MNP Application Portal no later than 16:00 Pacific Standard Time on February 20, 2026.- Note that once submitted, the application and project budget cannot be changed.Step 10: Await merit-based assessment and decision- Program Administration reviews complete applications between February 21 and March 31, 2026 using a competitive, merit-based process aligned with published assessment criteria.- Monitor the email address provided in your application for formal notification of the funding decision.- If your application is not approved, you may request feedback from Program Administration.Step 11: Finalize and sign the Funding Agreement- If approved, review the Funding Agreement sent by Program Administration outlining eligible activities, approved budget, project timelines, reporting and reimbursement requirements, and any specific terms and conditions.- Seek clarification from Program Administration if any part of the Agreement is unclear.- Sign and return the Funding Agreement as instructed; ensure it is fully executed by both parties before incurring project expenses.Step 12: Implement project and obtain approvals for communications- After the Funding Agreement is fully executed, begin implementing approved project activities and incurring eligible expenses.- Prepare all marketing, promotional, and communication materials that will use the Buy BC logo or funding acknowledgement.- Submit these materials to Program Administration for review and written approval before production or public release, following the instructions provided in your Funding Agreement.Step 13: Complete reporting and request reimbursement- Track all project expenses and retain invoices and proof of payment that correspond to the activities and budget in your Funding Agreement.- Use the reporting and expense claim templates provided by Program Administration to prepare your progress or final report, including required performance indicators and outcomes for each funded activity.- For producers, processors, and cooperatives, submit a single progress/final report and expense claim at the end of the project; for industry associations, submit a mid-term report and claim (if required) and a final report and claim at project end, by the deadlines stated in the Funding Agreement.- Submit your reports, expense claims, invoices, and proof of payment to Program Administration as instructed to receive reimbursement of eligible, approved costs.
Processing and Agreement
- After the intake closes, Program Administration (MNP LLP) reviews all complete applications to confirm eligibility and completeness.
- Eligible applications are then evaluated through a competitive, merit-based process against the program’s assessment criteria and available budget (not first-come, first-served).
- Applicants are notified of the decision by email; unsuccessful applicants may request feedback on their application.
- Approved applicants are invited to sign a Funding Agreement that sets out project activities, timelines, eligible expenses, reporting requirements, and reimbursement instructions.
- Once the Funding Agreement is fully executed, recipients can begin incurring eligible expenses and must later submit required reports, invoices, and proof of payment to receive reimbursement.
