  • For-profit private developers, if they are not part of the eligible applicant types.
  • Organizations that are not legally incorporated in Canada, if they are the primary applicant.
  • Applicants proposing support services or residential care.

Eligible expenses

  • Construction costs for the residential or housing component.
  • Operating costs for eligible residential or housing components, where required.
  • Mortgage payments included in the approved operating cost calculation.

Selection criteria

  • Ability to meet local community housing needs.
  • Ability to begin construction within 24 months of award.
  • Alignment with BC Housing capital and operating cost expectations.

  • Contribution to BC Housing priorities, including rural and remote communities, sustainability, EDIB, and reconciliation.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Prepare proposal
    • Develop a housing proposal that fits the CHF program requirements.
  • Step 2: Submit application
    • Submit the proposal through BC Bid, which is the preferred method.
    • Alternatively, send the proposal by email to BuildingBC@bchousing.org.
  • Step 3: Await review and notification
    • BC Housing reviews proposals after each intake period.
    • Applicants are notified of the funding status of their projects.
