Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a Canadian organization.
  • The proposed project must support the mental health and wellness of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and/or their informal caregivers.
  • Project activities must take place in Canada.
  • The project may be delivered in person and/or virtually.

  • Non-profit organizations

  • Indigenous organizations (band council, tribal council, or self-government entity)
  • Research organizations or institutes

  • Canada (project activities must occur in Canada)

How to apply

Step 1: Register interest
  • Send an email to register interest in the funding opportunity.
  • Wait for confirmation of receipt from Breakthrough T1D Canada staff (within 3 business days).
Step 2: Prepare full application
  • Prepare the full application for the proposed project.
Step 3: Submit application by email
  • Email the full application to grants@breakthroughT1D.ca.
  • Submit by the application deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Breakthrough T1D Canada confirms receipt of registration of interest by email within 3 business days.
  • Applicants are notified of the funding decision on June 1, 2026.
