Overview

This program provides up to $100,000 to strengthen justice-related services and access to justice for Black communities in Canada. Eligible activities include reintegration initiatives, prevention supports, mental health and wellbeing supports, and legal reform and equity work.

Activities funded

  • Reintegration programs and services for people re-entering society after justice system involvement
  • Prevention programs and supports aimed at reducing the risk of incarceration
  • Mental health and wellbeing supports that improve access to healing tools, self-advocacy, and mental health care
  • Legal system reform and equity initiatives, including advocacy and expanding access to legal services
  • Educational programs and policy advocacy initiatives to promote long-term justice and equality

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a Black-led, Black-serving organization (B3) based in Canada.
  • The proposed initiative must focus on increasing justice-related services and access to justice for Black communities.
  • The project must align with one or more of the program’s stated priority areas.
