Who is eligible?
- Permanent Alberta residents planning to attend an eligible course or workshop in heritage conservation work
- Registered organizations proposing to deliver training on heritage conservation
Eligible expenses
- For individuals: tuition fees, textbooks, course materials and supplies, travel expenses, accreditation expenses, and tools
- For organizations: trainer’s fees, course materials and supplies, and trainer’s travel expenses
Selection criteria
- Preference is given to individuals who are registered Alberta apprentices, certified journeypersons, tradespersons working in Alberta holding a recognized trade certificate (Red Seal), or students in a heritage trades pre-employment program.
- Applications are assessed on the quality and benefits of the training to individual Albertans.
- Applications are assessed on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
- The program budget is considered.

- Submit the application package by drop off, mail, courier, or email.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are evaluated and funding recommendations are developed by staff of the Historic Resources Management Branch of Alberta Arts, Culture and Status of Women.
- The Minister of Alberta Arts, Culture and Status of Women makes the funding decisions.
- Applicants are notified of the funding decisions in November or December.
- Funds are paid once the approval process is complete.
- Recipients are asked to submit proof of completion of the training and a report on the outcomes of the training within a year from receiving or delivering the training.
