Eligibility
- The applicant must operate in the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve Region.
- The project must advance local understanding of conservation challenges in marine and/or terrestrial ecosystems within the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region.
- The project must help prioritize conservation actions within the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region.
- If research is conducted in a First Nation’s territory, it must be supported by that First Nation and follow protocols.
- Research findings must be communicated in a public forum.

- Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve Region (Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region)
Selection criteria
- Focus on key species and ecosystem threats within the Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Region
- Addresses trends of degradation affecting ecologically and/or culturally important species or ecosystems
- Applicability to conservation action, including potential for broad application beyond the region
- Alignment with First Nations priorities and adherence to protocols, including support from the relevant First Nation where research occurs
- Supports the spirit and intent of the UNESCO Biosphere designation and includes public communication of findings

- Projects should support the spirit and intent of the UNESCO Biosphere designation.
- Research findings need to be communicated in a public forum.
- Research conducted in First Nations territories must be supported by the applicable First Nation and follow relevant protocols.
