Who is eligible?

How to apply
- Meet the requirements for the program and have your application reviewed by City staff.
- Receive Approval to Participate, usually within one to two weeks, and review the information package.
- Create an account using your Better Homes Kingston username and temporary password, and work with the Energy Coach to understand your options and schedule a pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation if required.
- Obtain contractor quotes and submit the Funding Request Form through the BHK Portal with Energy Coach support.
- If you are applying for loan financing, sign the property owner agreement and wait for the completed agreement to be returned before moving forward. If you receive loan financing, you can ask for 50 per cent of your funds upfront for contractor pre-payments.
- Complete the retrofit, arrange any required post-retrofit assessment, submit the Project Completion Report, await final payment, and begin loan repayment through your property tax bill.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by City staff for eligibility.
- Approved applicants receive an Approval to Participate, usually within one to two weeks.
- A funding request must be accepted before any work begins.
- For loan financing, a property owner agreement must be signed before moving forward.
- After completion, a project completion report is reviewed before the final loan payment and any eligible rebates are issued.
