Who is eligible?

• Non-profit organizations
• Non-profit service providers working with clients facing housing instability
• Non-profit organizations in Manitoba

Who is not eligible

• Private businesses
• Public institutions such as schools, prisons, and hospitals

Eligible expenses

• Professional pest control inspection and treatment services
• Non-chemical prevention items and monitoring tools
• Equipment purchase or rental for pest prevention and control
• Professional cleaning, furniture moving, and decluttering support
• Approved related goods and services for homelessness support cases

Ineligible Costs and Activities

• Work that the organization or tenant could reasonably do themselves, except chemical treatment
• Services that do not address a specific infestation
• Ongoing services without a clear end date
• Activities that are the landlord's responsibility under the residential tenancy law

Eligible geographic areas

• Manitoba

• Step 1: Choose the appropriate stream
  • Select the main stream or the homelessness support stream.
• Step 2: Complete the application package
  • Fill out the required application form.
  • Attach the completed MDA order form, if applicable.
• Step 3: Send the application
  • Submit in person, by mail, or by email.
  • Email applications to pestcontrolgrant@gov.mb.ca when possible.
  • Mail applications to the Manitoba Housing Programs office in Winnipeg.
• Step 4: Wait for review and approval
  • The program reviews the application and issues an approval letter if successful.
• Step 5: Submit receipts for reimbursement
  • Send receipts and required documents by the date stated in the approval letter.

• Applications are reviewed after submission.
• Applicants receive an approval letter stating the approved amount, items, and receipt deadline.
• Receipts and supporting documents are checked against the approval.
• Approved prevention materials may be paid directly to the Materials Distribution Agency.
• Organizations may be asked to confirm non-profit status during the year.

• Applications are accepted on a continuous basis until the program budget is fully used.
• A completed application package is required for processing.
• Organizations may be asked to confirm their non-profit status during the year as part of an audit process.
