- Book publishers operated by accredited post-secondary institutions in B.C.

- Publishers without established operations in B.C.
- Publishers lacking editorial independence
- Self-published or non-trade book publishers

- Capital expenditures, including construction, renovation, property purchase, or equipment
- Start-up costs or seed money
- Self-published books and other excluded book genres or formats

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed first for eligibility
- Eligible applications are assessed by a peer panel
- Funding decisions are approved and communicated in writing
- Decisions are normally issued within 16 weeks of the deadline
- Payments may be delayed, redistributed, or suspended if obligations are not met
