Who is eligible?
- Residential property owners with a BC Hydro account.
- Tenanted properties, through the registered property owner.
- Residential customers in BC Hydro’s service territory.
Who is not eligible
- Customers of other utilities in B.C., such as FortisBC.
- Secondary suites or separately metered units within a single residential building.
- Temporary service connections.
- Self-installers.
Eligible expenses
- Solar photovoltaic panels and battery storage systems.
- Installation labour and materials.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Temporary or mobile installations.
- Self-installed systems.
- Battery-only systems not enrolled in Peak Saver.
- Replacement of existing solar or battery systems, except for eligible capacity increases.
- Tesla solar and battery products.
Eligible geographic areas
- BC Hydro service territory.
- Residential properties in Indigenous communities within the service area.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed after submission and after final inspection documents are received.
- Interconnection approval must be received before the rebate is paid.
- Rebate processing and payment take 30 to 45 business days after interconnection approval.
Additional information
- Applications submitted before April 1, 2026 will be reviewed under the previous rebate amounts.
- Beginning June 1, 2026, installations must be completed by an HPCN member to qualify.
- For tenanted properties, the rebate is paid to the registered property owner.
