Author Readings Program updated
The Author Readings Program page now shows the 2026-2027 window for readings between August 1, 2026, and July 31, 2027, with applications open as of July 2, 2026 and processed after July 13 in the order received. It also adds a new Generative AI Statement, making human-generated work a requirement and stating that applications written, developed, or assisted by generative AI tools are not accepted. Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses
- Author reading fee of $300 per reading
- Return mileage within Saskatchewan at $0.44/km, up to a maximum of $300 per reading, with a minimum claimable travel distance of 20 km

How to apply
- Contact the author first to confirm availability before applying.
- Submit the online application form at least four weeks before the event and include the exact reading date.
- If you have trouble with the online form, use the fillable PDF and email it to swgevents@skwriter.com.
Processing and Agreement
- Complete applications are processed after July 13 in the order they are received.
- You will receive a response approximately two weeks after submission.
- If approved, the host is invoiced around the reading date and must pay the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild for its portion of fees.
- After the reading, the Host Report must be submitted within two weeks.
- Authors must submit the Author Reading Claim Form within two weeks of the reading to receive payment.

- Applications are processed in the order received.
- Readings must be booked with the author before applying.
- Approved readings must take place in the same program year.
- The program is administered by the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild.
