Author Readings Program updated
The Author Readings Program page now shows the 2026-2027 window for readings between August 1, 2026, and July 31, 2027, with applications open as of July 2, 2026 and processed after July 13 in the order received. It also adds a new Generative AI Statement, making human-generated work a requirement and stating that applications written, developed, or assisted by generative AI tools are not accepted. Related source pages were also updated: the application page raises the host reading fee from $70 to $75 and adds fillable-PDF fallback instructions, submission confirmation guidance, and the support email swgevents@skwriter.com; the claim form link now points to the 2026-2027 fillable version; and the host report now instructs users to begin every report in the Reading 1 spot. Who is eligible?

Eligible expenses
- Author reading fee of $300 per reading
- Return mileage within Saskatchewan at $0.44/km, up to a maximum of $300 per reading, with a minimum claimable travel distance of 20 km

How to apply
- Contact the author first to confirm availability before applying.
- Submit the online application form at least four weeks before the event and include the exact reading date.
- If you have trouble with the online form, use the fillable PDF and email it to swgevents@skwriter.com.
Processing and Agreement
- Complete applications are processed in the order they are received.
- You will know the status of your application approximately two weeks after its submission.
- You will be invoiced for your portion of the author’s fee around your reading date.
- After the reading, the Host Report Form must be returned to the SWG within two weeks.
- The Author Reading Claim Form must be submitted to the SWG within two weeks of the reading to receive payment.
Additional information
- Events may not be recorded without the permission of the author.
- All recordings will be the intellectual rights and property of the author.
