Overview

This program provides up to $15,000 to help arts organizations engage and grow audiences. Funding supports audience research and the design and testing of new audience engagement strategies.

Activities funded

  • Audience research, analysis, and segmentation to understand current audiences and how to reach them.
  • Designing and testing new audience engagement strategies to attract or regain identified audience segments.
Examples of admissible projects:

Documents Needed

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be an arts organization.
  • The project must focus on audience engagement to increase attendance and strengthen audience relationships.
  • For the Understanding Your Audience stream, the organization must not have undertaken recent audience analysis and segmentation.
  • For the Acquiring Your Audience stream, the organization must have already completed work to understand its audience and be ready to test new strategies for specific audience segments.
  • The organization must operate in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta, or be a provincial Alberta organization whose initiative directly benefits the Calgary arts community.

Eligible expenses

  • Fees to hire experts to conduct audience research, analysis, and segmentation.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta (including Calgary and surrounding area).
  • Eligible communities include Banff, Canmore, Drumheller, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Red Deer, and others within the region.
  • Province of Alberta (for provincial organizations whose initiatives directly benefit the Calgary arts community).
