Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Non-profit arts organizations
  • Non-profit heritage organizations
  • Non-profit cultural organizations

Who is not eligible

  • For-profit organizations
  • Activities held in commercial premises
  • Organizations seeking support for operating or administrative costs unrelated to the project

Eligible expenses

  • Festival, event, and series costs linked to arts, culture, or heritage programming
  • Project costs for eligible creative, cultural, or heritage activities
  • Purchase or repair of specialized equipment or infrastructure for a shared community asset

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Sales, exhibitions, or events held in commercial premises
  • Operating, sustaining, or administrative expenses not tied to the project
  • Studies, plans, strategies, conferences, or professional development
  • Travel
  • Building renovation or repair
  • Monuments, statuary, interpretative panels, and specialized equipment not used as a community asset

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete the application form
    • Fill in the organization and project details.
    • Prepare any supporting information requested in the form.
  • Step 2: Submit the application
    • Email the application to culture@fredericton.ca.
    • Mail it to the City of Fredericton, Recreation, Culture & Community Development, 397 Queen Street, Fredericton, NB E3B 1B5.
    • Deliver it in person to the Service Centre at City Hall, 397 Queen Street.
  • Step 3: Wait for review
    • Applications are assessed by the program jury after submission.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by a jury of peers and City of Fredericton representatives.
  • The jury determines the recipients and grant amounts.
  • A written report is required after project completion to remain eligible for future funding.
  • Approved recipients must acknowledge City of Fredericton support in publicity and program materials.

Additional information

  • Applicants may apply for multiple City of Fredericton grants if they meet each program’s requirements.
  • Past recipients must have submitted the required final report to be considered for future funding.
  • For unforeseen eligible activities, support up to $500 may be available at the jury chair’s discretion.
