  • Co-production fees to foreign artists, groups, or organizations.

Selection criteria

  • Artistic quality, artistic rationale, and partner involvement.
  • Potential to strengthen international profile, connections, and future opportunities.
  • Capacity and experience to carry out the project.
  • Reasonable budget showing fair payment and efficient use of resources.
  • Respectful and ethical cultural and artistic practices, including Indigenous cultural protocols where relevant.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create a portal account and register your profile(s)
    • Create an account in the client portal.
    • Register one or more profile(s) for validation.
    • Register at least 30 days before you plan to apply.
  • Step 2: Wait for profile validation
    • Canada Council staff review and validate the profile(s).
    • You can only apply after validation is completed.
  • Step 3: Apply to a funding opportunity
    • Choose the relevant program component in the portal.
    • Complete and submit the application online before the deadline.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by Canada Council staff after profile validation.
  • Applications are assessed by a peer assessment committee against artistic, impact, feasibility, and RECAP criteria.
  • Funding decisions are normally communicated within 5 months of the application deadline.
  • An application must include all required support material to remain eligible.
