Overview

Get a grant of up to $30,000 for travel linked to the international promotion of Canadian artists and artistic works internationally, establishing a place for Canadian arts practice in the global arts market.

Eligibility criteria

The Representation and Promotion component of Arts Abroad funds travel linked to the international promotion of Canadian artists and artistic works. Eligible applicants include registered or incorporated Canadian arts organizations, foreign arts organizations inviting Canadian artists, and Canadian organizations bringing international buyers to Canada.

  • Leading a Canadian delegation abroad

  • Formally represent and promote Canadian artists (i.e. through a contractual relationship)

  • Artistic merit and excellence

How to apply

  • Step 1: Create an account on the portal and submit one or more profile(s) for validation at least 30 days before you want to apply. This is necessary for eligibility.
  • Step 2: Review the activities that are eligible for funding, such as formally representing and promoting Canadian artists, building on existing tours, bringing international buyers to Canada, or leading a Canadian delegation abroad.
  • Step 3: Ensure that your travel is outside of Canada, at least 500 kilometers from your place of departure, and that the activities you plan to undertake align with the grant requirements.
  • Step 4: Check the deadlines and grant amounts to plan your application accordingly. Grants are generally based on fixed amounts, up to $30,000 for travel costs.
  • Step 5: Submit your application before your departure date and consult the Deadlines and Notification of Results page for further guidance.
