- Schools that have reached the maximum allowable residency term of five months, or multiple residency terms adding up to five months, in a given school year

- Guest artists or arts professionals
- Administrative costs, including planning or preparation by non-faculty members, substitution coverage, photocopying, promotional materials, and development or research related to the selected artist before the residency start date
- Travel and accommodation
- Additional travel expenses for remote fly-in communities in Northern Saskatchewan
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Fees paid to faculty or staff for activities supporting the residency program during school hours or outside regular school hours
- Fundraising activities, awards, sponsorships, or re-granting activities
- Activities that contravene provincial or federal law
- Activities that focus on mental health or wellbeing through art therapy or other forms of therapy
- Grants intended for capital purchases such as basic equipment, kilns, computers, or musical instruments

How to apply
- Register a profile and open the Artists in Schools – Residencies application through SK Arts’ online SmartSimple grant portal.
- Submit the application online at https://saskarts.smartsimple.ca
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are reviewed by an independent panel in a competitive peer review process.
- Applicants are typically informed of decisions by e-mail no later than 90 days after the application deadline.
- Successful applicants receive a notification email with the terms and conditions of funding.
- For residencies with an identified artist, the school must submit the Request for Grant Payment Form and a signed contract agreement between the school and artist before funds are released; the cheque is released no sooner than 30 days before the residency term begins.
- For residencies where the artist is not yet identified, the school must secure the artist before funding is released, then submit the Selected Artist Form, the artist’s support letter, CV or artistic resumé, and additional supporting material; school recipients must submit a final report no later than one month after completion of the residency term and invite the artist to submit a feedback form via SmartSimple, after which the final fee is paid.

- Applications may be submitted in English or French.
- French-language applications are translated into English before review, and at least one reviewer will be able to read the application in its original language.
- For languages other than English and French, applicants may apply to the Accessibility Fund for translation services.
