- Letter of agreement or video statement for Elder or Knowledge Keeper involvement and support, when required
- Letter of agreement outlining the role and level of support of each additional professional artist for projects requesting more than $10,000 that involve multiple artists

Who is eligible?
- Any K–12 school in Saskatchewan that operates in a traditional classroom or school setting and follows the Saskatchewan education curriculum.
- Any independent, professional Saskatchewan-based artist.
Who is not eligible
- Staff, including program coordinators, administrative staff, Elders or Knowledge Keepers, and other school personnel, except teachers or principals applying on behalf of a school
- Community/Curatorial Organizations or School Divisions acting on behalf of schools and artists to present projects
- Artists contracted in hired positions within the school whose work overlaps with the proposed project term
- Homeschool programs
- Schools or artists that submit more than one application by the closing date
Eligible expenses
- Artist salary and fees for additional guest artists and/or supporting partners
- Honoraria, travel expenses, meals, accommodation, materials, equipment rental, and other expenses necessary to complete the project
- Employer and employee contributions, including Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, and Workers’ Compensation, where required
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Fundraising activities, awards, sponsorships, and re-granting activities
- Activities that contravene provincial or federal law
- Projects that are not primarily artistic, do not link cross-curricular and cross-cultural educational outcomes, or are designed for therapeutic purposes, art therapy, or mental health and well-being
- Projects that use or present Indigenous cultural material, traditional knowledge, or stories without involvement of either an Elder or Knowledge Keeper
- Capital purchases, school administration costs, substitutions, expenses typically covered by the school’s regular program or budget, fees paid to faculty or staff, projects primarily designed and created by the artist with minimal student engagement, projects that start prior to the application closing date, and projects presented during regular school hours

- Achievability: appropriate partnership quality, communication, project plan, timeline, and budget
- Evaluation: thoughtful inquiry question and tools to measure impact and reflect on outcomes
How to apply
- Register on the online application portal.
- Submit the application online at https://saskarts.smartsimple.ca.
- Submit the application in English or French; French-language applications will be translated into English before review.
- If applying in another language, apply to the Accessibility Fund for translation services.
- Include the partnership letter or relevant portion of the application proposal as a PDF attachment and complete all declarations before submission.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are assessed by an independent panel through a competitive peer review process.
- Applicants are typically informed of grant decisions by email no later than 90 days after the closing date.
- Successful applicants receive a notification email with the terms and conditions of funding.
- If the grant awarded is less than 60% of the amount requested, the applicant must submit a revised budget, project plan, and/or project timeline.
- Recipients must submit a final report within 30 days of the project end date, including the final budget, supporting documentation, Final Actuals, and revised Revenue Notes and Expense Notes.

To be eligible for the Artists in Schools — Projects program, you must:
Any K–12 school in Saskatchewan that operates in a traditional classroom or school setting and follows the Saskatchewan education curriculum.
Any independent, professional Saskatchewan-based artist.
For projects with more than one artist, at least 50% of the artists, including the Primary Artist, must be Saskatchewan residents, and all artists involved must be professional artists.
