Who is eligible?
- Schools, school divisions, and professional artists may apply.
- School applicants may be provincial K-12 schools, school divisions, private schools, or Band schools that operate in a traditional classroom or school setting and work with the K-12 Saskatchewan Education curriculum.
- Professional artists must be Saskatchewan residents and meet SK Arts’ definition of a professional artist.
Who is not eligible
- Applicants submitting more than one application per deadline.
- Applicants applying as volunteers in the community and/or school, parents or caregivers, homeschools, Adult Education programs, or post-secondary education institutions.
- Incorporated for-profit companies and non-profit community organizations, including businesses, institutions, health care, justice facilities, post-secondary institutions, artists’ collectives, and Band Councils.
- Organizations that receive annual or multi-year funding from SK Arts, and Community/Curatorial Organizations acting on behalf of schools and artists to develop projects.
- Applicants with outstanding reports for previous SK Arts grants, non-teaching staff hired in contracted positions within the school(s), incomplete submissions, or applications submitted by mail, email, or fax.
Eligible expenses
- Justified travel limited to Saskatchewan and intended for Saskatchewan artists only.
- Eligible material expenses that align with the development grant’s purpose and objectives.
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Support for existing projects or activities that have received support through any other provincial arts funding program.
- Capital purchases such as basic equipment, kilns, computers, or musical instruments.
- Costs for materials or travel ordinarily covered by the school’s regular programming and budget.
- Fundraising activities, awards, sponsorships, or re-granting activities.
- Activities that contravene provincial or federal law; activities that use or present Indigenous cultural material, traditional knowledge, or stories without permission from the community or involvement of either an Elder or Knowledge Keeper; commission projects primarily designed and created by the artist with minimal student engagement; development projects designed for therapeutic purposes or art therapy.

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are typically informed of grant decisions by email no later than 90 days after the application closing date.
- Recipients of Development funds must submit a final report no later than 30 days after the project end date.
- Recipients must acknowledge the support provided by SK Arts, SaskCulture, Sask Lotteries, and the Government of Saskatchewan wherever possible and appropriate.
